Ali Rez: South Asia Creative of the Year
Campaign released their annual Agency of the Year Awards list last week and included the 2020 South Asia Creative Person of the Year Award. For the second time in a row, Ali Rez, Regional ECD for Impact BBDO Middle East and Pakistan, brought the award to Pakistan, countering competition from Bangladesh, India, Nepal and Sri Lanka.
The Agency of the Year Awards have existed since the nineties to “recognise inspiring leadership, management excellence, outstanding business performance and overall achievements in advertising and brand communications. The awards are open to all media, advertising, creative, digital, PR, independent and specialist agencies from across the Asia Pacific region and within the UK”.
One of the most awarded creative minds in Pakistan as well as globally, Rez was also named the number one Executive Creative Director in Asia (and amongst the Top 20 in the world) by the World Creative Rankings, this year. According to BBDO’s press release, “he also won the country’s first and only Gold Cannes Lion in 2015, followed by about 300 awards in the last five years. Under his creative leadership, BBDO Pakistan was named as the Number one Creative Agency in South Asia on the 2019 Cannes Lions Creativity Report, and Number 20 in the world – the first time a Pakistani agency had scored so high.”
According to Rez, what differentiates this award from the rest is that “it not only takes into consideration the quality of the work of the individual, but also how they contribute to the industry, their clients, their teams and of course, society. For the individual is nothing without these.”
Ali Rez and BBDO Pakistan are currently focused on continuing to deliver and build on their “mantra of The Work, The Work, The Work”.
