Clearly the local 'seths' donot value spending on ads when they can continue to focus on earing money by providing low cost / low quality products. Instead of building a BRAND, backed by quality and service culture, cost seems to be the only concern. This mind set is prevalent accross the society as we have no internaional brands to speak of, even in textile, the export back bone of the country for decades. Moreover a lot of ads seems to be made in India rathe than Pakistan, which should not be allowed on local TV channels. To promote local ad agencies, Govt should bad ads made outside of Pakistna on the local channels.

What is wrong with our media and advertisers? We have so many good actors and stars but it seems the ad companies cannot find 1 star out of 200 million people for their ad so they decide to put Karina Kapoor from India in the ad. Even Dawn consistently promotes Indian actors instead of Pakistani actors. India would never allow that to happen there.

Banks are at the 3rd place as Advertisers in cooking channels, while Surf Excel is in the top ten as Advertisers in news channels. Who ensures that the Ad is being watched by the intended target market? Pakistan is a highly heterogeneous society. Many brands should come out of the old PTV era Channel and Prime Time strategy. The world has moved on. Really speedily!!!

Local companies should focus on quality assurance of their products to compete with international brands. India has a lot of local products with international quality. If Pakistan need to increase its exports, they need to focus in innovation and quality.
