Asad ul Haq sets up Shiny Toy Guns

Asad ul Haq recently established a new production company called Shiny Toy Guns (STG). The company will operate in tandem with Haq’s initial foray into production, Ambience Films. While Ambience will continue to focus on TVC production, STG will produce feature films. Although Haq had previously eschewed feature film production and still maintains that “TVC production is my first love”, he believes it is time to bring the expertise and strong production values of TVCs to the sphere of feature films. Haq launched STG in Singapore in January because in his view having a base in Singapore will help in terms of distributing Pakistani films to a wider international audience, as well as in bringing international films to Pakistan. According to Haq it was initially difficult to find the right HR for STG and he is in the process of training several people. STG is currently working with Amjad Islam Amjad on a script and the intention is to work with both established and upcoming storytellers. “Anyone can come to STG,” says Haq. “if you have something worthwhile to tell, we will look into it.”
