Zong launches 4G LTE network

Zong becomes the first mobile network operator in the country to offer 4G LTE.

On September 27, Zong announced the launch of its 4G LTE mobile service, making it the first mobile network operator in the country to offer 4G LTE.

When the service is initiated on October 1, Zong will become the only mobile operator in Pakistan to offer both 3G (branded as Super 3G) and 4G services.

In addition to this, the company is also offering a 4G enabled handset called the M811, priced at Rs 21,900, with the idea being to offer a “complete bouquet of hardware and service,” according to Dr Fan Yunjun, CEO, Zong.

Zong already has a total 866,000 3G subscribers in seven major cities (Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Peshawar and Quetta), and has currently launched 4G LTE in these cities, chosen “on the basis of their vast network coverage which ensures the availability of the fastest data speeds.

Zong has promoted the launch of 4G LTE with print and TV advertisements.

Warid Telecom is also expected to launch its 4G LTE service in the next few weeks.
