Pakistan bags gold and bronze at the Asian Media Awards

Pakistani newspapers win for the first time at the prestigious WAN-IFRA Asian Media Awards.

Two media groups from Pakistan, the Jang and Dawn Media Group, won gold and bronze awards respectively at the WAN-IFRA Asian Media Awards held at Fort Santiago in Manila yesterday. This is the first time that newspapers from Pakistan have won at the Asian Media Awards.

The awards were in the Best in Newspaper Marketing category, where Jang won the gold for its multimedia classified campaign and Dawn bagged bronze for its print-based National Spelling Bee campaign. The silver was awarded to The New Straits Times from Malaysia.

The WAN-IFRA Asian Media Awards are an annual event and are considered “the most prestigious recognition of excellence for the news publishing industry in the region” and aim to promote the highest standards in newspaper and magazine publishing. Other winners this year include newspapers from Myanmar, Oman, South Korea and the UAE.
